FSA system outage

Students, parents, and financial aid professionals won't be able complete any financial aid tasks on the Federal Student Aid (FSA) website for part of this coming weekend January 28-29. The expected outages are limited to only a portion of the weekend when demand for the online services may be lower.

The Department of Education announced on January 23 that due to website maintenance and operating system upgrades, many FSA websites will be unavailable during the coming weekend. Beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, January 28 until 11 a.m. Sunday, January 29, students and parents will not be able to do any tasks that require an FSA ID, which includes filling out the FAFSA and completing entrance or exit counseling.

In addition, many other FSA websites and functionality, such as file transmissions and professional access, will not be available from 11 p.m. Eastern on January 28 to 2 a.m. Eastern on January 29.
