The action you should take now if you need more financial aid

A lot of things have changed in our world during the past year, and your financial situation may be very different than when you applied for financial aid.
If you completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) last fall or earlier this year, you may find that the financial aid offered on your award letter may not be enough - especially if you have experienced some changes due to COVID-19.
If that is your situation, you should contact the financial aid office at the school you plan to attend and request a financial aid appeal. You will need to specifically identify the special circumstances that impact your ability to pay for college. For example, if there has been a loss of income due to layoffs or furloughs.
The financial aid office may require the appeal be submitted in writing and be accompanied with documentation supporting the appeal. It is important to follow up with the financial aid office about a week after sending the appeal.
