The Department of Education's planned website outages this weekend should not cause too much inconvenience for financial aid professionals. Although several websites will be impacted, the outages will be very brief.

On September 19 and 20, the Department of Education plans to complete important system work that will impact many Federal Student Aid websites and systems. This work is in addition to the regular weekly maintenance that occurs each weekend.

From 7 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, September 19 until 11 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday, September 20, financial aid professional users will be unable to access the websites and systems behind the Department's Access and Identity Management System (AIMS).

The systems and websites that are behind AIMS are the Common Origination and Disbursement website (COD), Electronic Cohort Default Rate Appeals (eCDR Appeals), FAA Access to CPS Online, National Student Loan Data System Professional Access (NSLDS), Student Aid Internet Gateway Enrollment (SAIG), and the EDconnect software.

During the outage period, EDconnect software users will not be able to transmit files via the SAIG. EDconnect users attempting to transmit files during the outage period will receive an error message informing them that the SAIG is unavailable. Data must be transmitted at a later time, after the outage is complete.
