Entrance Counseling: First time Stafford Loan borrowers must complete entrance counseling before loan funds can be released to their student accounts. If you have trouble completing your session, please contact Reva Brown, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, for further assistance at 417/873-7540.
Undergraduate students must be enrolled at least half time status, or six credit hours for the fall/spring semesters, and three hours for summer to be eligible for a Stafford loan. Graduate students must be enrolled for at least three credit hours to be eligible for a Stafford loan. To officially withdraw from classes, you should contact the Registrar's Office at 417/873-7211. You must also contact the Financial Aid Office for important exit counseling information for your Stafford loans. Students can access their loan history online at http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/.
For your information: Average indebtedness for Drury University Stafford loan borrowers is $10559. For a student who has borrowed this amount, monthly payments would be $121.51 for 120 months. Interest paid on this amount over a ten year period would be $4022.59.
Master Promissory Note (MPN): You will have to complete a MPN only one time (in most cases) and return it to your lender or e-sign online. After you complete the new MPN, it will then be in effect for future loans requested at Drury University as long as you select the same lender.
Credit Balance Refund Checks: Release of aid does not occur until after the drop/add period ends, approximately the fourth week in the semester (fall or spring); then Financial Services issues refund checks within two weeks after a credit balance occurs. Therefore, the earliest possible date funds are available for living expenses is approximately the end of the fifth week of the semester if all the above steps were completed on a timely basis. Later in the semester, if a credit balance occurs when funds are released (Monday - Friday), refund checks will be available Thursday of the following week after 2:00 p.m. Withdrawals: Borrowers who completely withdraw from classes may owe a debit balance to the university due to "Return of Title IV Funds Policy."
