Central Oregon Community College in Bend, OR
Welcome to Central Oregon Community College's (COCC) online Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. This is a requirement for all students borrowing a Stafford loan for the first time at COCC.
After you have finished the quiz, complete the Borrower Information Form and read your Rights and Responsibilities. Your loan application will not be processed until you have completed all entrance counseling requirments.
After you submit the Borrower Information Form, your information will be sent to COCC. We suggest that you print the Confirmation Page which contains your Rights and Responsibilities, confirmation number, and the personal information you submitted. Save this printout in your personal loan file for future reference.
If you are a first time loan borrower, you must also sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with your selected lender. The MPN is a binding legal document you sign when you receive a student loan. The MPN lists the conditions under which you are borrowing and the terms under which you agree to pay back the loan. It includes information on how interest is calculated and about deferment and cancellation provisions. It is very important to read and save this document because you may need to refer to it later when you begin repaying your loan.
The MPN will require the names, complete addresses and phone numbers of two personal references. The first reference should be your parent, legal guardian or an adult relative. The second reference must be an adult who does not reside at the same address as the first reference. Only U.S. addresses are accepted. Your loan funds will not be available without submitting a complete promissory note to your lender.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each term at COCC to be eligible to receive your loans funds.
If you have questions, please contact the Student Financial Aid Office at COCC by email at coccfinaid@cocc.edu or by phone at 541-383-7260. Real ALL directions carefully as you progress through the session. You may click Start below to begin loan entrance counseling.
