Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR

Welcome to Mt. Hood Community College's online Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. This is a requirement you need to complete each year you want to take out a Federal Stafford loan at MHCC. This helps you understand and reminds you about your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. It also ensures that your personal and reference information is current. Your Federal Stafford Loan will not be certified until (1) we receive notification that you have successfully completed this entrance counseling, and (2) you have turned in a completed Loan Request Form. Additionally, you must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours for the term(s) you are requesting the loan to be eligible to receive your Federal Stafford loan funds.
Many MHCC students request loans to help pay for their college education. The average Stafford loan indebtedness of students taking out loans at MHCC is $3,168. Your loan debt impacts many facets of your life after college so we encourage students to borrow wisely. To see your total loan history, you may visit NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System).
After you successfully complete the quiz, carefully read the Rights and Responsibilities page. Complete ALL the information on the form following that, even if the information does not say it is required. If all the information is not entered on the form (including references), you will have to do loan counseling over and your loan will not be certified until it is done correctly. Click on the Submit button to have your information sent to MHCC. Then print the page containing your rights and responsibilities, confirmation number, and the personal information you submitted. Keep this printout in your personal loan file. The information you submitted will be forwarded automatically to MHCC so we can verify that you completed this requirement.
