Dear IIT Downtown Campus Student,
As a first time Federal Stafford and/or Federal Graduate Plus Loan borrower at the IIT Downtown Campus, federal regulations require that you complete student loan entrance counseling before any loan funds can be disbursed. Borrowing for your education is a major investment in your future. It is important that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a federal loan borrower.
A student receiving federal financial aid loan funds must be enrolled at least half-time, as defined by the Registrar's Office, in a degree-seeking program or certificate program that is approved for Title IV funding by the Department of Education.
During the regular fall and spring semesters half-time enrollment is defined as:
During the summer term half-time enrollment is defined as:
If you are enrolled less than half-time it will impact your financial aid. You will enter your 6 month grace period on your Federal Stafford Loan and if you have borrowed from the Federal Graduate Plus Loan you will be in repayment of this loan immediately. If you decide to withdraw from the school you must complete a Withdrawal Form at the Registrar's Office which is located on the 2nd floor at the IIT Downtown Campus.
To access your aggregate federal loan history log on to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) at www.nslds.ed.gov using your FAFSA PIN.
