Welcome to McNeese State University's online Entrance Counseling!
All first time borrowers must complete an entrance counseling session. We want to make sure you understand your rights and responsibilites under the Federal Stafford Loan program.

Complete online entrance counseling. (follow instructions below)

The MSU Stafford Loan Office will certify and electronically transmit your loan to your lender AFTER all above steps are completed.

Once your loan has been certified, if you are a first time borrower or you change lenders, you are required to sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with the lender that you selected. The MPN can be signed electronically, on our website, and is usually ready to be signed within 7-10 business days after the successful completion of entrance counseling. You may check with the MSU Financial Aid Office to see if your MPN is ready to be signed.

You must sign a financial aid authorization each semester! This allows the Business Office to apply your financial aid to your account. This must be done even if there is a $0 balance on your account. You may sign your authorization electronically by logging into your MSU Portal , next click on FA Authorization under Banner Links.
All students must be enrolled at least half time for each semester at the time of awarding and disbursing of loan funds.
Definition of half time status for Graduate and Undergraduate Students:
Fall Semester 6 credit hours
Spring Semester 6 credit hours
Summer Semester 3 credit hours
All students who resign from the University must submit written notice of resignation to the Office of the Registrar.
Your FAFSA must be renewed each year.
