National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant


 
  • Does not need to be repaid
  • Awards up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth years of undergraduate study

Eligibility requirements

In order to be eligible for this grant, you must:

  • be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen,
  • be Federal Pell Grant-eligible during the same award year,
  • be enrolled in a degree program on at least a half-time basis,
  • be a third- or fourth-year student (or a fifth-year student in a five-year program) in an undergraduate degree program,
  • major in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or critical foreign language (or non-major single liberal arts programs), and
  • have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in the coursework required for your major, and have and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA as of the end of the second award year (your GPA must be verified prior to the beginning of each payment period – e.g., semester).
