IRS Data Retrieval Tool outage this weekend

Anyone planning to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this weekend will have to do so without the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Retrieval Tool (DRT).

According to the November 14 Electronic Announcement, the IRS DRT will be unavailable November 17 from 8:00 a.m. Eastern time through November 18 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern as the IRS completes critical system upgrades. The recent outage on November 11 and 12 wasn't enough to finish the IRS DRT updates, so additional time is planned for this weekend.

Students and parents will still be able to complete the FAFSA but will have manually input income data or, if they want to use the IRS DRT, they should access the DRT before or after the scheduled outage.
