Federal offices to close on July 3

June 24, 2020

If you are working on Friday, July 3, it should be a good day to get caught up on answering your emails or on organizing your office.

After all, you won't be able to reach any federal offices as the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and probably a lot of other offices* will be closed on that day.

According to the Department's June 19, 2020 Electronic Announcement, because the Independence Day federal holiday falls on Saturday, July 4, 2020, federal offices as well as most Title IV processors and contact centers will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2020 (the day before Independence Day) to observe the Independence Day federal holiday.

Most offices will also be closed on Saturday, July 4, except for the 1-800-4-FEDAID contact center. The 1-800-4-FEDAID contact center, which will be closed on July 3, will be taking calls on July 4.

The Department has created a document listing the various centers' operation status on the day before the holiday.

*The Mapping Your Future offices will be closed on Friday, July 3. Online services, such as Online Counseling and MappingXpress, will still be operational.
