More time to apply and more information on Federal Work Study Experiment
July 03, 2019
If you thought you were going to have to work over the July 4 holiday weekend to finish your school's application to participate in the Department of Education's Federal Work Study Experiment, we have some good news.
The Department has extended the deadline for applications to September 23, 2019. Previously, the deadline was July 8.
That is not all the good news. The Department announced they will host a webinar on July 11 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern to provide information about the Experimental Sites Initiative's Federal Work Study (FWS) Experiment.
According to the Department, this experiment will provide participating postsecondary institutions with waivers of statutory and regulatory provisions to test how changes to the Federal Work Study program will increase partnerships between institutions and industry, improve student retention and completion, reduce student debt levels, and yield strong post-graduation employment outcomes.
The webinar will provide more information about the experiment, its regulatory exemptions, the application and selection process, and allow institutions to ask questions about the experiment. To register for this webinar, visit http://fsaregistration.ed.gov/d/tyqqxt.
If you have questions about the webinar, send a message to experimentalsites@ed.gov.
