Be a little selfish this Valentine's Day. Advice to be selfish may seem a little counter-intuitive on a holiday when you should be thinking about others. Maybe the word, selfish, is a little strong. However, it is important that you think about yourself on Valentine's Day and on any other day of the year. In a profession like financial aid, you give a lot of yourself to others — students, faculty, and administrators (not to mention the time you spend outside of the office helping others with the FAFSA or their student loan issues). It can wear you down. It is only when you take care of yourself first that you have the energy to take care of others and to be truly generous. | ||||||||||||||||
