December 19, 2019

While many of will be celebrating the holidays this weekend, it will be moving weekend for some of the Department of Education websites.

During the weekend of December 21-22, 2019, the Department of Education plans to consolidate the current functionality of StudentAid.gov, StudentLoans.gov, FSAID.ed.gov, and some components of NSLDS® Student Access (NSLDS.ed.gov) under one umbrella website, which will be an enhanced version of StudentAid.gov.

According to December 13 Electronic Announcement, all of the functionality of StudentLoans.gov will be available under the new StudentAid.gov, and all existing pages will be redirected to new pages so as not to disrupt the borrower experience.

The Department plans to add messaging on StudentLoans.gov and StudentAid.gov so that visitors are aware of the change. FSAID.ed.gov and NSLDS Student Access will remain operational in the short term.

The Department said it also recognizes that the website consolidation will impact school websites and materials. According to the Department, there will be redirects in place at the time of consolidation, and they will provide further operational guidance in forthcoming Electronic Announcements in early 2020.
