Department of Education publishes draft 2024-25 Draft FAFSA Specifications Guide

The Department of Education has published a draft of the 2024-25 FAFSA Specifications Guide, but the announcement about the guide comes with a warning that there will be changes.
In an April 28 Electronic Announcement, the Department said the draft specifications guide will give financial aid administrators, software vendors, and other vested stakeholders time to understand and prepare for these upcoming changes under FAFSA Simplification.
According to the Department, the FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of federal student aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, need analysis, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in the Title IV programs.
