Changes under FAFSA Simplification included in Guide

When the changes have been so numerous, you lose track of them all, that's when it's good to get a summary to make sure you haven't missed anything.
In the latest update to the draft of the 2024-25 FAFSA Specifications Guide, the Department of Education has included a new volume, which is a summary of the changes.
In a September 25 Electronic Announcement, the Department announced the addition of Volume 1 to the guide. The 26-page volume outlines the changes impacting financial aid offices.
According to the Department, the draft specifications guide gives financial aid administrators, software vendors, and other vested stakeholders information to understand and prepare for upcoming changes under FAFSA Simplification. The FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of federal student aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form, need analysis, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in the Title IV programs.
