Anyone planning to complete their FAFSA in the wee hours of Sunday morning may want to make other plans.

According to a Department of Education Electronic AnnouncementStudentAid.gov has site maintenance scheduled on Sunday, September 17 from 1 a.m.–11 a.m. Eastern time (E.T.) which will impact the availability of some forms and flows. In addition, certain applications on StudentAid.gov will be fully or partially unavailable from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. ET.

During this outage period, users may access the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. However, if an action requires entry of federal tax information, the tax information will need to be provided manually.

The Department said applicants may wish to complete their FAFSA forms after the outage is over. In addition, the Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan Request and the Loan Consolidation Application will not be available during the extended outage period.
