New volume of Federal Student Aid Handbook consolidates grant information

The complex and changing nature of federal financial aid makes it critical for financial aid professionals to keep the Federal Student Aid Handbook within easy reach.
In an August 25 Electronic Announcement, the Department announced the availability of Volume 7 – The Federal Pell Grant Program and the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants of the 2023-2024 Federal Student Aid Handbook.
“Some Pell Grant, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant, and Children of Fallen Heroes Award content was partially or fully duplicated in more than one section of the FSA Handbook,” the Department said in the Introduction to the Volume. “We have attempted to eliminate duplicative content, while ensuring that all relevant information previously in other volumes has been included in the new Volume 7.”
The Federal Student Aid Handbook consists of the Application and Verification Guide, nine numbered volumes, and appendices. It is posted digitally and as a print-ready PDF on Federal Student Aid’s Knowledge Center. The Errata and Updates for the 2023-2024 Federal Student Aid Handbook are also available.
