Snow day

It can make winter more tolerable. Snow days — those surprise days off from school or work that evoke joy in every man, woman, and child lucky enough to enjoy one.
Of course, those who work from home or live in warmer climates rarely get to experience those feelings of elation because of a snow day. Yesterday it was sunny and 76 degrees at my location in Texas and today is in the 40's, a little closer to snow day temperatures.
As someone who has lived in a colder climate, I know that a closure in a northern state only comes when the weather is truly severe. In the meantime, in southern states, it will take only an inch of snow to shut down a city.
Yesterday, we were wearing shorts and flip flops in Texas, and a snow day seemed like a distant fantasy. But today is Groundhog Day. Maybe we'll be in for a surprise.
