The best way to get my attention? Take my shoe away when I am trying to leave the house to get to an appointment on time. At least, that works for my dog, Libbie. She has an innate understanding that to get me engaged and paying attention, she must use a strategy of having something I want and just when I want it It is a very effective strategy, and probably one that works well in communicating with your students and other staff, faculty, and administrators at your institution. When you have a message for one of those audiences, instead of thinking about what you want or need done, think of what they want and when it will matter to them. Such as not showing up late to an appointment with only one shoe. - By Catherine Mueller | ||||||||||||||||
