Students trying to decide which college to attend may find some help with the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard.

The Department of Education recently updated its College Scorecard, which is a free online tool to help students (as well as families, educators, counselors, and other college access professionals assisting students) make data-informed decisions when choosing a college or university to attend.

The updates to the College Scorecard include the following:

  • Data on median earnings of graduates four years after completion
  • New demographic data on college staff and data on student-to-faculty ratios
  • More information for prospective graduate students
  • Updated, more user-friendly field of study interface

According to an announcement by the Department of Education, the scorecard "supports students on their pathway to college and future careers by increasing the transparency of information that will help them understand the benefits of a higher education, such as college costs, student debt, graduation rates, admissions test scores and acceptance rates, student body diversity, post-college earnings, and much more."
