Unfortunately, we are all the target of online scammers.
Because of all the personal information being entered, students and parents need to be especially careful about what emails they open, what links they click on, and what websites they visit.
Although it’s always been a problem, legitimate websites are being spoofed – sometimes with a misspelling or slight variation in the website address, such as dashes or dots. Make sure you are always going to the correct website before entering any information or your username and password.
In addition, be careful about emails. If you aren’t absolutely sure about the email, rather than clicking on any link, go to the website and, after verifying you have the right website address, log in to your account to see if you need to take any action.
