The Department of Education released new content for the FSA Handbook and announced it will be seeking input from financial aid professionals as they “reimagine the content” of the handbook.

In a March 16 Electronic Announcement, the Department announced the availability of the Appendices of the 2025-26 Federal Student Aid Handbook and said it would be revising some of the FSA handbook materials.

The Appendices includes the following topics:

  • Appendix A: Orientation to Online Resources
  • Appendix B: Required Actions When a Student Dies
  • Appendix C: The FSA Assessments
  • Appendix D: Other School Reporting Requirements
  • Appendix E: Institutional Reporting and Disclosure Requirements
  • Appendix F: Higher Education Act of 1965 Table of Contents

Regarding Appendix C, the Department will be seeking input from financial aid professionals and other stakeholders to refresh and improve the content in the FSA Assessments. The FSA Assessments and other FSA Handbook materials will be revised, according to the Department, to support schools and stakeholders in successfully administering the Title IV programs and to execute the laws, regulations, policy, and operational guidance.

The Federal Student Aid Handbook, which is available in both a digital and PDF version, consists of the Application and Verification Guide, nine numbered volumes, and appendices. Readers can find the FSA Handbook posted on Federal Student Aid’s Knowledge Center.

Questions and suggestions concerning the Federal Student Aid Handbook can be sent through the Customer Support form in the FSA Partner Connect Help Center.
