Financial aid professionals and software providers now have another resource to prepare for 2027-28 financial aid awards.
In a July 22 update to a May 5 Electronic Announcement, the Department said it made two updates to the 2027-28 FAFSA Specifications Guide, adding an ISIR Test File for the upcoming year under Volume 9 and adding Volume 1, which is a summary of changes.
The FAFSA Specifications Guide is designed to meet the reference needs of financial aid administrators (FAAs), programmers, data processing staff, and other FSA partners who want to incorporate electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) functionality into their institutional systems and communicate electronically with the FAFSA Processing System (FPS). It includes FAFSA-related processing information and guidance in a multi-volume resource.
