Pell Grant award amounts unchanged for the 2025-26 academic year

Students eligible to receive the maximum Federal Pell Grant for 2025-26 will receive the same amount as was awarded in the current academic year.

The maximum Pell Grant award for 2025–26 (July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026) will be $7,395. Pell Grant award amounts can vary based on a student’s eligibility and enrollment.

Congress determines the maximum Pell Grant award amount every year when establishing the budget. Because Congress has not acted on a budget and the federal government is operating under a continuing resolution, the Pell Grant amounts remain the same as the current academic year.

It is possible that Congress will act to modify the Pell Grant award amount and, if so, the Department of Education will publish the new amounts later.

Some students, who are eligible to receive a Pell Grant based on their financial need, may not receive the maximum Pell amount. The amount an individual student receives depends on a number of factors, including Student Aid Index (SAI), cost of attendance (COA), and enrollment status.

A student must complete a FAFSA to determine eligibility for a Pell Grant.
