It’s always nice to have options.

But sometimes too many options can be overwhelming – especially when you’re making an important life decision such as where to go to college.

If you are considering 2, 5, or even 10 colleges and having a hard time deciding, maybe it’s time to change your thinking.

Changing how you think is a strategy to get a new perspective that will give some insight as to what is the best choice.

When it comes to choosing a college, rather than thinking about all the attributes of the colleges and comparing those attributes, think about yourself:

  • What do you want to achieve with your college education?
  • What do you want to see when you step on campus?
  • What experiences do you want to have while you are attending college?
  • What is the most important thing you want from a college?

Jot down the answers to these and think of some other factors that may be important to you in your decision. You may want to prioritize the answers, giving greater weight to those factors you consider the most important.

You may still have a tough decision, but this change in your thinking just might be the key to knowing which college is the best for you.
