Schools can begin reviewing their FY 2022 draft cohort default rate information and prepare for making any necessary appeals.
The Department of Education announced the distribution of the FY 2022 draft cohort default rate (CDR) packages on February 24 to all eligible domestic and foreign schools.
The information, sent to the SAIG mailbox of the designated destination point administrator, includes the following:
- Cover Letter (message class SHDRLROP)
- Extract-Type Loan Record Detail Report (message class SHCDREOP)
Through the NSLDS Professional Access, schools can download the following reports:
- A Comma Delimited-Type Loan Record Detail Report (message class CDRCSVOP), which is available for download in the “Reports” area or to have sent to an SAIG mailbox.
- A PDF version of a Reader-Friendly Loan Record Detail Report (message class SHCDRROP) is available for download in the “Reports” tab.
A school not enrolled in eCDR won’t receive the notification packages but can download their CDR information and Loan Record Detail Reports from NSLDS Professional Access.
When reviewing the CDR information, schools may want to use the LRDR Import Tool, which allows information to be loaded from the Loan Record Detail Report into an Excel spreadsheet in order to review and analyze the data.
Schools are reminded that if they did not have a borrower in repayment during the current or any of the past cohort default rate periods, they will not receive a FY 2022 draft cohort default rate notification package.
Schools can appeal any incorrect data starting on March 4 through the eCDR Appeals application available at the eCDR Appeals website. This site also includes user guides for the registration process, and challenge and adjustment processes. First-time users can find links to recordings of eCDR Appeals demonstration sessions.
Information about the school cohort default rate calculation and challenge process can be found in the Cohort Default Rate Guide. Schools can also email fsa.schools.default.management@ed.gov or call the Cohort Default Rates Group hotline at 202-377-4259.
