The Department of Education has three important reminders for those borrowers who are just beginning to repay student loan debt or are resuming repayment after some time in forbearance or deferment.

Mapping Your Future has created a “3 Important Reminders for Borrowers of Federal Student Loans” flyer to help borrowers understand obligations and next steps. The reminders from the Department include the following:

  • Student loan debt is an obligation that must be repaid.
  • Repayment options are available so students can repay their debt based on their income.
  • Students should log into their StudentAid.gov account to learn more about their loans and to confirm that their contact information is correct.

Students should contact their servicer if they have any questions about their loans or if they want to switch repayment plans. The servicer information can be found in their StudentAid.gov account.
