Resources to make completing the 2026-27 FAFSA even easier
Completing the FAFSA usually isn’t difficult, especially if students and families are prepared.
There are two important steps when preparing to complete the 2026-27 FAFSA:
- Set up a StudentAid.gov account.
- Gather the needed information and documents.
Setting up StudentAid.gov account (also known as creating an FSA ID) is the first step when completing the FAFSA.
To assist students and parents with setting up the account, Mapping Your Future recently updated the “Create your StudentAid.gov account” flyer.
Gathering the needed documents, which include Social Security numbers, 2024 federal tax returns and W-2 forms, untaxed income, and asset information, also makes the process easier.
In our “Get ready for the 2026-27 FAFSA by taking these two steps” flyer, students and parents have a list of what is needed, along with some tips when setting up the FSA ID.
