Financial aid professionals will notice some updates to their institutional student information records (ISIRs) layout that are a result of the Budget Reconciliation Bill provisions.
In an April 23 update to an earlier Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education outlined details about the transition to the updated ISIR layout that happened on April 26.
- The last batch of ISIRs using the existing layout was delivered on the morning of April 24.
- NSLDS post-screening will be paused for one week to simplify the transition to the new ISIR layout, thus ISIRs sent on April 27 will not include updated post-screening codes.
- NSLDS post-screening will resume on May 3.
- The first batch of ISIRs using the new layout will be generated on April 27 and delivered to SAIG mailboxes on April 28.
- Loan limit exception flags are managed by the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System and changes to this flag will trigger an updated NSLDS post-screening transaction on the regular post-screening schedule.
- Schools with questions about which students have loan limit exceptions should refer to the new COD “Loan Limit Exception” field, which will be set with an initial value on Sunday.
The Department will monitor the generation of ISIRs to ensure things are working as expected and may choose to pause ISIR delivery to resolve any issues. Notification of any delays will be provided as an update to the Electronic Announcement and through the FSA Tech Listserv.
