Institutions now have guidance from the Department of Education about the Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) data reporting requirements, as well as the option to early implement the new Student Tuition and Transparency System (STATS) and Earnings Accountability data collection.

In an August 11 Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education provided guidance on FVT/GE Data Reporting and the new STATS system.

In the announcement, the Department noted that they have determined that more than 1900 institutions have not reported or under-reported FVT/GE data from the 2024 and 2025 reporting cycles. The data was due September 30, 2025, and October 1, 2025, respectively. Institutions that have not yet reported all required 2024 and 2025 FVT/GE data are considered delinquent and will have until Friday, January 15, 2027, to submit any unreported or under-reported FVT/GE data.

The deadline for the FVT/GE data for the 2026 reporting cycle is Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The comprehensive announcements covers the following topics:

  • Minimum Reporting Requirements for the 2024 Cycle
  • Minimum Reporting Requirements for the 2025 Cycle
  • Reporting Requirements for the 2026 Cycle
  • Process for Submitting FVT/GE Data
  • FSA Office Hours on FVT/GE and STATS Reporting
  • Process for Non-Compliant Institutions

The Department plans to publish data and statistics from the FVT/GE and STATS data in 2027 by first publishing draft data and statistics and giving institutions an opportunity to review the information and will then publish the final data and statistics.
