Students should benefit when some colleges will receive 2025-26 supplemental Campus-Based funds in the near future.
In a September 30 Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education (ED) outlined how 2025-26 supplemental Campus-Based award funds will be distributed and how schools will be notified.
Information collected on the Campus-Based Reallocation Form that was due on August 20, 2025 is used to reallocate unexpended Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and Federal Work-Study (FWS) funds from the previous award year as supplemental allocations for the current award year.
The announcement outlined the distribution of FSEOG and FWS funds:
- By September 30, ED reallocated supplemental FSEOG funds to schools that were in areas that have been severely affected by disasters in the past fiscal year and had notified FSA that they experienced significant damage. Also, schools that have a federal loan portfolio with a high risk of default projected over the next several years will be the second focus of reallocation of funds. ED encourages these schools to award FSEOG funds to needy students impacted by a disaster or who would otherwise take out a loan.
- Supplemental FWS funds have been awarded to schools that (1) have a 2025–26 fair share shortfall (final funding worksheet for FWS, line 28); and (2) requested a supplemental 2025–26 FWS allocation on line 5 of the Campus-Based Reallocation Form.
Schools receiving supplemental Campus-Based funds were notified by the end of September via an email sent to the Financial Aid Administrator listed on the most recently submitted FISAP, or as updated on the “Demographics” page on the COD website. The email will refer schools to their Campus-Based Statement of Account which reflects the supplemental award amount for each program.
Questions regarding the supplemental Campus-Based award process, should be directed to the FSA Partner and School Relations Center at 1-800-848-0978 or via email to CODSupport@ed.gov.
