Department updates 2026-27 Federal Student Aid Handbook with latest school eligibility and operations requirements

Financial aid professionals can now brush up on the latest federal financial aid school eligibility and participation requirements with the release volume 2 of the 2026-27 Federal Student Aid Handbook.

In a September 1 Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education (ED) announced the availability of Volume 2 – School Eligibility and Operations. This volume provides information on the general obligations in administering the Title IV student aid programs, including institutional and program eligibility, administrative requirements, audits, record keeping, program reviews, and providing information to the public.

The Federal Student Aid Handbook, which is available in both a digital and PDF version, consists of the Application and Verification Guide, nine numbered volumes, and appendices. Readers can find the FSA Handbook posted on Federal Student Aid’s Knowledge Center.
