Financial aid professionals have another deadline to add to an already busy fall calendar and issues that would have impeded meeting the deadline have been resolved.

The Department of Education last week updated an August 5 Electronic Announcement about sending draft Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) Completers List. The list identifies those students who completed programs and will be factored into the FVT/GE calculations.

The draft Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) Completers List was originally sent to schools August 3-4 via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) TG mailbox.

Due to an issue with the Completers Lists, the files were resent. Any “GEFVCMOP” files received prior to August 6 should be ignored or deleted.

An issue with the web display on NSLDS Professional Access was also fixed. The ad hoc report contains correct information.

The Department also adjusted the 60-day correction period to run from August 8 until October 7. Schools have this period to review and correct student information on the draft list.

Students can then be added, removed, or excluded from the list using NSLDS Enrollment Reporting on the NSLDS Professional Access website.

The Department will calculate debt-to-earnings (D/E) rates and earnings premium (EP) measures using the debt and earnings of students who completed the program during a specified two-year or four-year cohort period.

After October 7, a final FVT/GE Completers List will be sent to schools. Students remaining on the list and not identified as excluded will have their annual median earnings data obtained from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The NSLDS FVT/GE User Guide, Volume 3, Chapter 5, includes information about the FVT and GE Completers List Report.
