Schools can begin reviewing their FY 2023 draft cohort default rate information and prepare to submit any necessary appeals.
The Department of Education announced the distribution of the FY 2023 draft cohort default rate (CDR) packages on March 23 to all eligible domestic and foreign schools.
The information, sent to the SAIG mailbox of the designated destination point administrator, includes the following:
- Cover Letter (SHDRLROP)
- Loan Record Detail Report (SHCDREOP)
The announcement also includes step-by-step guidance for accessing and downloading draft CDR notification packages in the How To Access Your CDR Package in PDF Format document.
When reviewing the CDR information, schools may want to use the LRDR Import Tool, which allows information to be loaded into an Excel spreadsheet in order to review and analyze the data.
Schools are reminded that if they did not have a borrower in repayment during the current or any of the past cohort default rate periods, they will not receive a FY 2023 draft cohort default rate notification package.
Schools can appeal any incorrect data starting on March 31 through the eCDR Appeals application available at the eCDR Appeals website. This site also includes user guides for the registration process, and challenge and adjustment processes. First-time users can find links to recordings of eCDR Appeals demonstration sessions. Participation Rate Index Challenges (PRI) still require a hard-copy submission.
Specific information about the eCDR appeals can be found in the Cohort Default Rate Guide or by visiting eCDR Appeals website for user guides. Schools can also email fsa.schools.default.management@ed.gov.
