June 17 Electronic Announcement clarified some instances when schools should resolve conflicting information.

Examples of these instances include questions regarding a student’s high school diploma, academic progress, enrollment, and tax filing status. The conflicting information may involve another office at your school. If the school has conflicting information or if you have any reason to question the information, you must resolve the discrepancy before disbursing Title IV funds. You must still resolve discrepancies that are discovered after disbursing Title IV funds.

Two other Electronic Announcements were also referenced in the June 17 announcement:

  • Electronic Announcement (GENERAL-24-11) on 2024-25 Award Year Flexibilities and Department Letters to Presidents, which provides information on reduced verification requirements, among other strategies to help schools.
  • Electronic Announcement (GENERAL-24-29) titled Update on Tax Data Received from the FA-DDX and Manually Entered Information, which provides information on items not considered as conflicting information.
