Financial aid professionals will – hopefully – see the return of the automated NSLDS post-screening functionality soon.

A May 1 Electronic Announcement from Federal Student Aid (FSA) stated that the processing of post-screening data on Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 FAFSA cycles should resume for all institutions the week of May 5. An update to the announcement will be posted to confirm the timeline.

For several months, schools have had to use workarounds, which have created challenges and increased administrative burden.

Once the post screening resumes, schools will receive ISIRS via their SAIG mailbox that will indicate the most recent change(s) to a student’s eligibility. ISIRs can include up to three post-screening reason codes.

Schools may receive a high volume of 2024-25 and 2025-26 ISIRs with post-screening codes for the first couple of weeks that post screening resumes. ISIRs with post-screening codes may also be received that were available via the manual files uploaded to their TG mailbox in February-April 2025.

Also, schools may want to review APP-25-02 for guidance on their responsibilities in resolving disbursements based on this post-screening data.
