Financial aid administrators and staff now have an opportunity to learn more about the impact of the Budget Reconciliation Bill on federal student aid programs through an online training course.
The Department of Education announced that an online, self-paced training course is available, providing an overview of the Budget Reconciliation Bill (P.L. 119-21 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act) as it relates to the federal student aid programs. An emphasis on the current requirements and an explanation of how the new law impacts those requirements are addressed.
The four lessons covered in the training include:
- Student Eligibility
- Loan Origination and Disbursement
- Loan Repayment and Servicing
- School Eligibility and Accountability
Also included in the course is a brief recap of the negotiated rulemaking process and timeline. Once proposed and final regulations are published in 2026, additional training will be available. Updates can be found by monitoring the Negotiated Rulemaking for Higher Education 2025 website.
The OBBBA Overview training course can be found at the FSA Training Center by selecting Legislative Updates on the home page.
Questions about the course can be directed to helpdesk.fsatraining@ed.gov.
