With the beginning of a new semester and increased demand for financial aid, the Department of Education is reminding schools that some processing may take longer.

In an announcement, the Department shared the following peak processing reminders for the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system:

  • Origination and disbursement responses are processed throughout the day and generally sent to schools within hours.
  • Batch processing may take longer.
  • Mondays and Tuesdays are the heaviest processing days. The Department recommends sending data later in the week, if possible.
  • System-generated responses are processed once a day at 2:30 a.m. (ET) for preceding day activity.
  • For most schools, actual disbursement records may be submitted up to seven calendar days before the disbursement date for all award types.
  • If batch or system-generated response processing takes longer than 24 hours, affected schools will be contacted by the FSA Partner and School Relations Center on the next business day.

Questions can be directed to the FSA Partner and School Relations Center at 1-800-848-0978 or via email at CODSupport@ed.gov.
