Schools and other entities that want to test their processing system for 2026-27 can use a test data file that is available from Federal Student Aid.
Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced the availability of a 2026–27 Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) test data file that can be used by schools, state agencies, software providers, and other agencies and entities in order to ensure their processing system is working correctly when receiving 2026-27 ISIRS from the FAFSA Processing System (FPS). Testing is optional.
Volume 4A – Record Layouts of the 2026–27 FAFSA Specifications Guide provides more information on the 2026-27 ISIR changes and the current ISIR record layout.
The test data file (2026-27 FPS Test ISIR Data File) is available as an attachment to the 2026–27 FAFSA Specifications Guide and is located under “Attachments” for Volume 9 – Testing and Web Demo System
