Department of Education announces the launch of Beta 2 testing

The testing of the 2026-27 FAFSA continues to move forward, allowing some students and families to complete the FAFSA form early.

On the Department of Education’s Homeroom blog, James Bergeron, Deputy Under Secretary, recently announced that following a successful Beta 1 testing period, they have launched Beta 2 as of last week and admitted 1,000 students.

A recap of Beta 1 is available and the testing provided the Department with some good insights and feedback on improvements that have either been made or will be implemented by October 1.

Any student or contributor can now request to participate in beta testing through the end of September by requesting access to complete the 2026-27 FAFSA early.

Schools, college access professionals, and others are encouraged to share this information with their members and networks by retweeting this X post from the @FSACOO account. Sample outreach language will be available at FAFSA Central soon.
