Tip of the Week
Favorite season of the year
We all may have a favorite season of the year.
For me, it has always been summer.
I enjoy the warm weather, longer days, sitting outside and reading a book, walking outside, pampering the flowers that adorn the front of my house, and watching the sun set.
Granted, there are some things I don’t enjoy as much – humid days, mosquitoes, mowing the lawn (the fun wears off after the first month), and pulling weeds in my bed of Hosta plants.
When I worked on a college campus, I enjoyed the summer months the most. Of course, one reason may have been a bit selfish on my part – parking. Most days in the summer there wasn’t an issue with finding a parking spot close to the building.
I enjoyed meeting with students and families, the crazy busy days of new student orientation, and the challenges of various projects.
While there was always a stack of files to be reviewed, a long “to do” list, and that occasional “challenging” phone call from a parent, I always knew the work would be waiting for me when I returned in the morning.
That is, after I went home for the evening and enjoyed watching the sun set.
After all, it’s the simple things that make up our favorite season of the year.
