Reminder of a post-holiday deadline

Not to ruin the upcoming holidays for anyone but maybe this reminder can help you get ahead of things.

The Department of Education issued an Electronic Announcement on November 13, reminding schools of two Financial Value Transparency/Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) requirements that must be completed by January 15.

If you’re like most financial aid offices, you’ve probably already started working on gathering the information you need to meet these regulations, which have the goal of transparency but are a rather complex requirement for institutions.

The regulations establish debt-to-earnings and earnings premium measures to determine whether Gainful Employment (GE) and Eligible Non-GE programs provide students with sufficient financial value. The new regulations also establish an accountability framework for GE Programs that uses the two measures to determine whether a GE program remains eligible for Title IV funds.

The deadline had been earlier but was moved to January in response to the workload schools were under with the FAFSA.

Hopefully, the extra time was a welcome gift.
