Tip of the Week

It changed our lives

Most people can’t imagine life without the internet.

The internet has changed our lives, how we do business, and how we help students.

From its early origins in 1969 when the APRANET was developed by the U.S. Department of Defense, to the late 1980s-early 1990s when the World Wide Web was invented, and numerous technological advances since, we can probably all agree that the internet has changed our society.

October 29 is “National Internet Day.”

It’s a reminder to think about all the things we use the internet for daily – everything from managing finances, booking vacations, and online shopping – to completing the FAFSA, applying for student loans, and researching scholarships. And those are just a handful of hundreds of ways we use the internet every day.

It’s also important to remember that not all the changes the internet has brought about in our lives have been for good – divisive comments, identity theft, and criminal activity.

Maybe sometimes it’s a good thing to imagine our lives without the internet.
