Colleges participating in a Prison Education Program (PEP) now have a tool available that provides guidance to assist in required reporting.

In an October 20 Electronic Announcement, the Department of Education announced the availability of the 2025–26 Prison Education Program (PEP) Reporting Tool Workbook on the Prison Education Programs Topics page of the Knowledge Center website and also on the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) website.

The workbook and corresponding template, which applies to reporting that starts with the 2025-26 award year, provide guidance for reporting information about individual students enrolled in an approved PEP. This information is part of the required annual reporting which requires individual student information and program-level information.

The workbook includes information about locating the template in COD, completing, and submitting the information, a data dictionary that addresses information about the template, and troubleshooting tips.

Questions should be directed to the Prison Education Program team at PEP@ed.gov.
