Financial aid professionals have more training opportunities available for the 2026-27 award year.
In a July 9 announcement, Federal Student Aid announced the launch of the 2026-27 FSA Fundamentals Training series which includes the FSA Fundamentals Online self-paced course and the FSA Fundamentals Virtual Workshop, which is an instructor-led four and one-half day Zoom workshop.
The FSA Fundamentals Online self-paced course must be completed before participants can register for and attend an FSA Fundamentals Virtual Workshop.
The announcement outlines the virtual workshop dates for October 2026 through April 2027. The workshops are specific to school type, which includes clock-hour/nonterm credit-hour or credit hour. Participants must attend the workshop that matches their school type.
The virtual workshops are held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern), Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday, with required activities to be completed before and after the core workshop hours.
Financial aid administrators will want to make note of situations when both the financial aid administrator and Owner/President/CEO are required to complete the online course and virtual workshop as part of the FSA Fundamentals Training Series requirement, as outlined in the announcement.
