Students in a handful of select locations could have the opportunity to complete the 2027-28 FAFSA early as a part of the Department of Education’s beta testing.
On August 7, the Department updated a July 21 Electronic Announcement and announced that they have launched the first phase of the 2027-28 beta testing with community partners in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, the Marshall Islands, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C. Those community partners include school districts, community-based organizations, and post-secondary institutions.
Beta 1 testing events will continue through August 20. Beta 2, which is expected to begin in late August or early September, will allow any student and contributor to request access to the 2027-28 FAFSA.
