Tip of the Week

What can you withstand?

Growing up in the Ozarks and now living in Texas, I’ve had my share of snake encounters.

Some of those encounters have been close calls – like opening the front door and if I hadn’t looked down, I would have stepped on top of a copperhead.  I slammed the door so fast and so loud, my husband came running to find out what was the trouble.

I was reminded about this and my other snake encounters when news broke this week about the Arkansas high school football player who wore a helmet at practice for more than hour before complaining that it didn’t feel right. When he took it off, the coach examined it and discovered a cottonmouth, hiding in the padding.

In my opinion, that player deserves some kind of trophy.

This player practiced for an hour with a cottonmouth near his head. What else could this player withstand?

From now on, anything this player faces, he can always, say, “At least, it wasn’t like finding a venomous snake in my helmet.”

Maybe, that’s a bar we can set for ourselves for anything we encounter.
