Financial aid professionals can remove one deadline from an already busy fall calendar.

The Department of Education announced that schools will have until January 15, 2025, to report required information and review the Completers Lists under the Financial Value Transparency (FVT) and Gainful Employment (GE) rules.

The Department recognized that the additional time to complete this reporting will allow schools to prioritize work for the 2024-25 FAFSA as well as prepare for the release of the 2025-26 FAFSA.

The Department plans to produce the first complete set of results under FVT/GE so that students can use this information in making college decisions for 2025-26.

Since some schools may want to report their FVT/GE information earlier, the Department will offer an opt-in opportunity for a limited number of schools and will accept their reporting this fall. More information on the early opt-in opportunity will be provided soon. Schools that have already reported their information will not be included in this early process unless they indicate their interest.

The Department is also working on resolving issues identified with the Completers List and will provide updates as soon as they are available.
