Financial aid professionals are superheroes. Granted, they don’t wear fancy superhero outfits or have special powers.

Or maybe they do.

This time of the year especially, financial aid professionals have always exhibited their “superhero” abilities.

As another academic year settles in, a long “To Do” list continues.

But this year’s list is not merely tasks to be completed. Instead, it’s items that fundamentally change the way financial aid is administered – all with unclear guidelines.

Yes, it’s overwhelming at times. And we often think we need to get it all done right now. After all, we’re superheroes, right?

Don’t forget that in order to be productive and to reduce stress and the feeling of being overwhelmed, you need to take care of yourself first. Taking time for yourself is necessary to do the superhero work you do every day.

As we approach the upcoming Labor Day weekend, take some time for yourself by unplugging from work. Resist the urge to log in from home or go into the office “for just a couple of hours.” And resist the temptation to check and respond to work email.

After all, you’ll want to get some rest and relaxation so you can be the best superhero you can be.
